Create/Edit/Dismiss/Delete Announcements
The objective of this tutorial is to communicate course updates, share new information, and post reminders for learners by creating announcements. This tutorial shows you how to create an announcement.

Before watching the tutorial video, please make sure your are in your "SANDBOX" course (or the actually course you will be given in the future) to access the announcement tool. Do NOT click the announcements from the main homepage as you won't be able to continue with this video tutorial.
Difference between main homepage and course homepage? Homepage means the main hompage you see first when you login. Course homepage is the homepage you see when you click your specific course or your sandbox (sandbox homepage).
- Login your username and password in the CELO+ Brightspace Learning Environment login page (https://cdu.brightspace.com/).
- Go to the "COURSE SELECTOR" and click "[username] SANDBOX".
- Click the drop down arrow at the left side of "ANNOUNCEMENTS"
- Select "NEW ANNOUNCEMENT"
- Enter a "Headline" and "Content" for your announcement
- Scroll down to Availability and adjust your date and time the announcements should appear.
- You have to option to attach media files, word documents, web links to this announcements for students to know more about the announcement.
- For the Release conditions, this will be a separate tutorial.
- If you would like to save your announcement without letting the students see it, click "SAVE AS DRAFT".
- If you would like to cancel the announcement, click "Cancel"
- When you are done editing your announcement, click "PUBLISH", to add it in your course.
VISITING THE ANNOUNCEMENT PAGE:
- Go to the "COURSE SELECTOR" and click "[username] SANDBOX".
- Click the word "ANNOUNCEMENTS".
- Once you are in the announcement page, You have the option to create a new announcement, view or edit all your announcements, and delete your announcements.
- To Create a new announcement:
- just click "new announcement" and follow the video and step by step instructions above.
- To View all your announcements or Edit an existing announcement.
- Scroll down to the announcement you want to view and click the announcement.
- This will redirect you to the editing page again, edit the announcement and click "Update" once your done.

- To Delete an announcement
- you can click the small box to the left of your announcement, and click "Delete".
- A confirmation window will pop up, click "yes".
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
- I have set a specific date and time for the announcement to appear, will students see this announcement right there and then when i click "publish"?
- No, once you have click publish, it just means that you are ready for the students to see the announcement. The announcement will notify students at your specific date and time.
- Whats the difference between dismissing a published announcement from deleting it?
- Dismissing a published announcement will make that particular announcement be dismissed in the course homepage, but will be available in the announcement page. Think of it as dismissing a notification you received in your smart phone under the notifications window.
- Deleting an announcement will actually delete that particular announcement, and this will no longer be seen in the announcement page.
- How to dismiss announcements?
- Go to the "COURSE SELECTOR" and click "[username] SANDBOX"
- Do NOT click anything yet, hover your mouse to the announcement you would like to dismiss and now click "X". The letter "X" will dismiss your announcement from the course homepage.
- If you go back to the "announcements" page, you will see that the announcement that you have clicked "X" can still be seen in the announcement page and has been marked "Dismissed".
- How do i Un-Dismiss announcements?
- Go to the "COURSE SELECTOR" and click "[username] SANDBOX".
- Click the word "ANNOUNCEMENTS".
- Scroll down to the announcement you want to view and click the announcement.
- Tick the box beside "Major edit - send a notification and restore it for those who dismissed it"
- Click"update", and your announcement should be back in the course homepage.
